On May 13th, China Geological Engineering Group Limited (hereinafter referred to as China Geology), a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation, was responsible for the implementation of the integrated protection and restoration project of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes, grasses and sands in the important headwater area of the Tarim River (Aksu River Basin) in Xinjiang, which was centrally commenced.
The project deploys five categories of projects, including windproof and sand-fixing capacity improvement, oasis ecological security, watershed water ecology protection and restoration, forest and grassland ecological nourishment function enhancement, and life community governance capacity enhancement, and contains 35 sub-projects, with a total investment of RMB 5.373 billion yuan, of which the central government funds RMB 2 billion yuan, and the local government raises funds of RMB 3.373 billion yuan, and it will vigorously push forward the coordinated development of the region's green economy and environmental protection. It will strongly promote the coordinated development of green economy and environmental protection in the region.
It is reported that the Integrated Protection and Restoration Project of Mountains, Water, Forests, Fields, Lakes, Grasses and Sands in the Important Headwaters of the Tarim River (Aksu River Basin) in Xinjiang is the first batch of the national project, the first one in Xinjiang, and the ecological civilization construction project that has the largest one-time central fund, the widest area involved, and the most contents covered in Aksu region.
China Geological has long been rooted in Xinjiang Aksu area, and through many researches and demonstrations, it has planned to carry out the project of integrated protection and restoration of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes, grasses and sands in the key area of the northern sand prevention belt of China, and has prepared the “Implementation Plan for Integrated Protection and Restoration of Mountains, Water, Forests, Fields, Lakes, Grasses and Sands in Important Headwater Area of the Tarim River (Aksu Basin) in Xinjiang (2021-2023)” (hereinafter referred to as the “Implementation Plan”). (hereinafter referred to as “Implementation Plan”), as an important initiative to build up the northern sand-proof belt in China's “Two Screens and Three Belts” ecological security pattern, and to realize the “Double Target Positioning” of the national main function area (ecological function positioning of water conservation and windbreak and sand-fixing, and positioning of the main production area of advantageous agricultural products). The project was identified as one of the first national projects for the protection and restoration of mountains, water, forests, lakes, lakes and grasslands, and was successfully supported by the central government.
Up to now, China Geological has fully commenced the construction of 15 sub-projects in 2021 and is actively promoting the survey and design work of 18 sub-projects so far this year.
